Hunkkaar: The Roar (JioHotstar, Sept 25)
Marking Aneet Padda’s first major project since Saiyaara, the series promises to be a gritty courtroom drama, telling the story of Meenu (Aneet Padda), a brave young woman decides to take legal action against revered godman Baap ji (Raghubir Yadav), claiming that he sexually assaulted her. Created by Karan D Kapadia and Nitya Mehra, Hunkkaar features Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Raghubir Yadav, and Sana Fatima Shaikh in the primary cast.
The ensemble cast includes Arjun Mathur, Zoya Hussain, Charu Shankar and Rajesh Sharma. Hunkkaar also has Priyanka Chopra Jonas onboard as an executive producer.
Don’t Be Shy (Prime Video, Sept 25)
The YA rom-com movie, produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under the banner of Eternal Sunshine Productions, promises to tell the story of Shyamili Das aka Shy (Aarushi Bajaj), the perfect girl who has chalked out an elaborate plan for her successful life ahead, but with a somewhat deceitful exterior. As reality hits back at her, Shy now must make a tough choice between accepting herself or marching ahead without regrets.
Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, the film also features upcoming actors Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora, and Ansh Duggal in the lead and Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia, and Anju Alva Naik in the supporting cast.
Shaque: Trust No One (Netflix, Sept 24)
New Hindi OTT releases this week also include Parineeti Chopra’s long-form debut, Shaque. Billed as a mystery-thriller, and co-created and directed by Rensil D Silva, the show primarily follows Anvita, a mother who continues to search for her missing daughter since 8 years while still haunting by her absence, while also following other lives connected to her who have dark secrets of their own.
Shaque has an impressive ensemble cast too, with actors like Tahir Raj Bhasin, Soni Razdan, Anup Soni, Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harleen Sethi, Dhruv Chowdhary, and Sumeet Vyas on board.
Baby Do Die Do (Netflix, Sept 23)
The Huma Qureshi starrer will finally have its OTT premiere this week, after 11 weeks of theatrical release.
Produced by Huma’s brother Saqib Saleem, Baby Do Die Do revolves around a hitwoman, Baby (Huma Qureshi), whose killings grab the attention of the police and others, who begin to pursue her. The cast of the film includes Sikander Kher, Chunky Pandey, Seema Pahwa, Rachit Singh, Vidya Malavade, Himanshu Malik, Marudhar Shekhawat and Arun Kushwah. Nachiket Samant has directed the film, with an original story from Parveez Shaikh and Jasmeet K Reen.
