The Revolutionaries (Prime Video, Sept 11)
Created and directed by Nikkhil Advani, The Revolutionaries is a period action-drama, set in the 1910s capturing the freedom struggle pioneered by activists like Rashbehari Bose, Bagha Jatin and Sachindranath Sanyal. Based on Sanjeev Sanyal’s book Revolutionaries: The Other Story Of How India Won Its Freedom, the series stars Bhuvan Bam, Rohit Saraf, Pratibha Ranta, Gurfateh Pirzada in the lead.
The supporting cast includes Jason Shah, Paoli Dam, and Tota Roy Chowdhury among others.
Ghamasaan (ZEE5, Sept 11)
Arshad Warsi and Pratik Gandhi headline the ZEE5 film directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, which promises to be a riveting thriller set in Bundelkhand ravines, following the cat-and-mouse chase between revered dacoit Maharaj (Arshad) and a determined cop Aditya (Pratik). As the chase begins, what unfolds is the chaos that erupts from the clash of two contrasting ideas of power and justice.
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande (Jio Studios), Piiyush Singh, Abhayanand Singh, Saurabh Gupta & Ashwini Chaudhary (Golden Ratio Films) and Miten Shah (Yaelstar Films), Ghamasaan also featuures Ishita Dutta and Rajpal Yadav in ensemble cast.
Chumbak (Netflix, Sept 11)
Chumbak follows five families whose lives are so intertwined that neighbours become permanent family. From a hopeless romantic lovebird duo to a seemingly zen couple who hide their chaos under their quiet appearance, from an unpredictable Parsi family to Dharmendra and Kiran, where trouble arises out of Dharmendra’s penchant for playing women roles in his acting journey, these families are tied together by the oldest couple of them all — Rajni and Kuku, who are perpetually at loggerheads even as they remain head-over-heels in love.
Written and directed by Aatish Kapadia and produced by Jamnadas (JD) Majethia and Aatish Kapadia, Chumbak boasts a massive ensemble cast with actors like Neena Gupta, Deven Bhojani, Amyra Dastur, Anant V Joshi, Sumeet Vyas, Manasi Parekh, Arjun Bijlani, Helly Shah, Sumeet Raghvan and Sandeepa Dhar on board.
Ali Baba aur 40 Bhoot (JioHotstar, Sept 11)
New Hindi OTT releases this week also includes Ali Baba aur 40 Bhoot, a horror-comedy series where its two protagonists (played by Asha Negi and Vishal Vashistha) are out to unravel a mystery of supernatural forces in their sleepy little village. Among other puzzles, the duo must also figure out why is the ghostly figure chasing all the goats in their village. Vishal plays a goofy cop, while Asha plays his curious associate.
The supporting cast includes Mridul Das, Abhay Mahajan, Joy Sengupta, Meenakshi Sethi, Mansi Sehgal, Ujjwal Chopra, Amit Jairath and Ashish Kaul.
