A date has been set for the restaurant to open for one last time before being shut down. A premiere date has been announced for the fifth and final season of The Bear. The announcement comes after the premiere of a surprise episode from the series, titled 'Gary'.
The surprise episode featured Ebon Moss-Bachrach's Richie and Jon Bernthal's Mikey taking a work trip to Gary, Indiana. The flashback episode shows a detailed look at Mikey's mental health, and also a detailed idea of the Richie we know and what made him the way he is. The episode is co-written by Bachrach and Bernthal and directed by Christopher Storer.
Even as fans are reeling from the cliffhanger ending of the 'Gary' surprise episode, the streamer has announced that the final season will premiere on June 25 with all eight episodes. The series is headlined by Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri.
For the unversed, (spoilers ahead) The Bear season 4 ended with Carmen Berzatto conveying to Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) and Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) about his intention to leave The Bear restaurant and signing over his stake to complete the process. FX later renewed the show for a fifth season in July 2025.
The Bear also stars Lionel Boyce, Jon Bernthal, Liza Colón-Zayas, Matty Matheson, and Edwin Lee Gibson in recurring roles. Last season, Brie Larson made a cameo appearance as Francine Fak. Other cast members who came on board were Danielle Deadwyler, Rob Reiner, Gillian Jacobs, and Josh Hartnett, among others.
Josh Senior, Cooper Wehde, Tyson Bidner, Matty Matheson, Hiro Murai, Rene Gube, and Christopher Storer are executive producers of The Bear. Courtney Storer serves as the culinary producer, while FX Productions is the producer of the series.
