Netflix’s Remarkably Bright Creatures teaser introduces us to the octopus voiced by Alfred Molina

Starring Sally Field and Lewis Pullman in lead roles, Remarkably Bright Creatures is all set to premiere on Netflix on May 8

Sally Field's Tova, an aquarium janitor, checks up on a shy octopus in the first teaser for Netflix's Remarkably Bright Creatures. The teaser introduces Alfred Molina as the voice behind the giant Pacific eight-legged mollusc. Also starring Lewis Pullman, the film is gearing up to premiere on the streamer on May 8.

Remarkably Bright Creatures is an adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt's popular novel of the same name. Colm Meaney, Joan Chen, Kathy Baker, Beth Grant, and Sofia Black D'Elia are also a part of the cast.Where the Crawdads Sing director Olivia Newman is the director of the adaptation. John Whittington (Sonic the Hedgehog 3) co-wrote the script with director Newman.

In Remarkably Bright Creatures, Tova (Field), a lonely elderly widow who works at an aquarium as a janitor, befriends and shares a unique relationship with Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the facility. Cameron (Pullman), a young man who comes to town in search of family, without her knowledge, has taken it upon himself to solve a mystery that will lead her to a life-changing discovery to heal her heart.

Popularly referred to as "that octopus book", Remarkably Bright Creatures was published in 2022 by Ecco and became a quick sensation through word of mouth. It has been on the New York Times bestseller list for 64 weeks. Having sold over 2 million copies, the book reportedly went through a minimum of 30 printings.

Night Owl's Bryan Unkeless and Peter Craig have produced the adaptation along with Anonymous Content's David Levine. Night Owl's Alyssa Rodrigues and Anonymous Content's Tony Lipp, Erika Hampson, Newman, and Van Pelt have served as executive producers.
