Arun Vijay's latest film Retta Thala, directed by Kris Thirukumaran has premiered on OTT platform Prime Video after its theatrical run.

Released on December 25 last year, the film stars Arun Vijay in dual roles - Kaali and Malpe Upendra. When Kaali comes face-to-face with his lookalike Malpe Upendra, his life turns topsy turvy. Upon hitting theatres, the film was met with mixed to negative reviews.

Our CE review of the film read, "Breathtaking indolence aside, the most baffling thing about Retta Thala is not the AI clips but how everything around it, the ‘real’ scenes, feel like they were written by AI. How else would you explain everyone in the film looking like they walked straight out of H&M’s winter collection catalogue (the film happens in Pondicherry and Goa), or Siddhi Idnani’s character revealing her desire to move to France because she has crippling financial issues and is sick of her waitress job?"

Retta Thala director Kris Thirukumaran made his directorial debut with Sivakarthikeyan's Maan Karate (2014), and then made Gethu (2016), starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Amy Jackson, and Sathyaraj. Before filmmaking, Kris served as an assistant director to AR Murugadoss in Gajini, Ezham Arivu, Thuppakki, and Sarkar.

The film stars Tanya Ravichandran as the female lead and Kannada actor Yogesh in his Tamil debut. The star cast is rounded by John Vijay, Hareesh Peradi, and Balaji Murugadoss.

The technical crew of Retta Thala consists of music director Sam CS, cinematographer Tijo Tomy, editor Anthony, and stunt choreographers Anbariv.
