Akshay Kumar's latest film Welcome To The Jungle has arrived on OTT, nearly two months after its release in theatres. Directed by Ahmed Khan and written by Neeraj Vora, it is the third instalment in the Welcome film series, succeeding Welcome (2007) and Welcome Back (2015).
The plot of Welcome To The Jungle revolves around a wealthy businessman who tries to evade income tax by producing a massive, fake Rs 2,000-crore movie designed to log massive financial losses. During its production, a group of quirky misfits get stuck in a dangerous jungle. Filled with confusion, criminals, and hilarious situations, they must work together to survive and find their way out.
Welcome To The Jungle boasts a massive star cast reuniting 90s screen icons like Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Raveena Tandon after many years. Additionally, the film features prominent names like Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, Jackie Shroff, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Aftab Shivdasani, Mukesh Tiwari, and Yashpal Sharma.
Upon release, the film was met with mixed reviews, but became a commercially successful venture at the box office, earning over Rs 180 crore.
An excerpt from our CE review of the film reads, "Welcome To The Jungle is a ludicrous, hodgepodge of events which works only when the actors and the audience are in on the absurd. However, it is fun to see Akshay Kumar get down his saviour high-horse and improvise some funny bits. He is hilarious as an actor who wants to hog all the limelight. The meta-ness can be a tad-bit on the nose but Akshay sells it."
The ensemble cast also includes Kiran Kumar, Zakir Hussain, Vindu Dara Singh, Urvashi Rautela, Hemant Pandey, Brijendra Kala, Feroze Khan(Arjun), Late Pankaj Dheer, Puneet Issar, and Sudesh Berry.
