Known for his roles in The Man in the High Castle and Game of Thrones, actor Marc Rissmann has joined Amazon MGM Studios' Viking series Bloodaxe.
The historical series follows the rise of the famous Norse raider, Erik Bloodaxe, and his wife, Gunnhild, known as the Mother of Kings. Actors Xavier Molyneux and Jessica Madsen play the lead roles in the series.
The series follows the embattled throne of Norway, torn between rivals and traitors. As rulers of other Scandinavian countries and the English ruler vying for power in Norway, Bloodaxe chronicles one of the compelling and intense events that led to the rise of Norse hero Erik Bloodaxe.
Rissmann will play Erik's brother, Greycloak, a recurring role in the series. He was last seen in the spy thriller The Amateur, headlined by Rami Malek, and in the TV series Andor: The Star Wars Story.
Bloodaxe, created, written, and executive produced by Michael and Horatio Hirst, is the third series in the creative lineage of the Vikings history, with the other two being Vikings (2013-20) on History and the follow-up series Vikings: Valhalla on Netflix. MGM Television is the producer of all the series.
