Pravinkoodu Shappu, headlined by Soubin Shahir and Basil Joseph, will premiere on SonyLIV on April 11. Written and directed by debutant Sreeraj Sreenivasan, the film is an investigation thriller centred around a murder in a toddy shop. It opened to mixed reviews following its theatrical release on January 16.

Pravinkoodu Shappu also stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Chandini Sreedharan, Niyas Aboobecker, Shabareesh Varma, Shivajith Padmanabhan, Joseph, George, Vijo (Mani), Sandeep, Revathy, Ramkumar, Rajeesh Azheekodan, Devaraj, Prathapan, and Jyothika. The film, produced by Anwar Rasheed, has cinematography by Shyju Khalid, music by Vishnu Vijay and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali.

An excerpt from CE review of the film reads, "Murder mystery films usually pivot around the 'who', 'why', and 'how' aspects of the crime. But in Pravinkoodu Shappu, the focus is largely on finding who committed the crime. The 'how' angle is overlooked for most part of the narrative before two commoners crack it casually. While the staging of the crime and its execution have some ingenuity, the motive behind it is generic and fails to make an impact. The red herrings, supposed to keep us hooked, also don't succeed much in piquing our curiosity."

Basil was last seen in the critically acclaimed film Ponman, which recently started streaming on JioHotstar. His upcoming film Marana Mass, produced by Tovino Thomas, is scheduled to hit theatres in April.

Meanwhile, Soubin is making his Tamil debut with the Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It has also been announced that Soubin will be directing a film with Dulquer Salmaan soon.
