After a strong run at the box office, Thalaivan Thalaivii is gearing up to arrive on OTT platform Prime Video. The Vijay Sethupathi-Nithya Menen drama, directed by Pandiraaj, is scheduled to be released on OTT on August 22.

Vijay Sethupathi plays Agasaveeran and Nithya Menen portrays Perarasi. They are a couple who love cooking and eating food, and share a dynamic relationship with each other. Once they get married, issues start cropping up, leading to a major rift in their relationship. How they deal with it forms the core story of Thalaivan Thalaivii. Upon release on July 25, the film was received with mixed reviews from fans and critics. Despite the setback, strong word-of-mouth reviews helped the film gain momentum and increased its revenue at the box office to over Rs 75 crore.

Thalaivan Thalaivii brought back Vijay and Nithya back together after their work on the 2022 Malayalam film 19(1)(a). The film also stars Yogi Babu, Chemban Vinod Jose, Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, RK Suresh, Mynaa Nandhini, Deepa, Roshini Haripriyan, and Sendrayan.

Our CE review of the film read, "Pandiraaj reins in the melodrama by relying on relentless comedy that is organically built out of the various relationships depicted in the film, especially the one between Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen's characters."

The film had music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography handled by M Sukumar and editing by Pradeep E Ragav.
