On Wednesday, Prime Video unveiled the first teaser for their upcoming spin-off series, Ballard. The series is a spin-off of Bosch:Legacy, which recently ended with the premiere of the third season.

The teaser introduces Maggie Q as Detective Renée Ballard who is tasked with heading the LAPD’s new cold-case unit. Bosch lead, Titus Welliver, who plays Harry Bosch, also makes an appearance in the teaser.

The official synopsis of Ballard reads, “It follows Detective Renée Ballard (Q), who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold-case unit — a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest caseload in the city. Ballard approaches these frozen-in-time cases with empathy and determination. When she uncovers a larger conspiracy during her investigations, she’ll lean on the assistance of her retired ally, Harry Bosch (Welliver), to navigate the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life.”

Ballard marks Amazon MGM Studios' first venture into the Bosch franchise, based on Michael Connelly's work, with a new lead character, distinct from Titus Welliver's Bosch. The series has a production team, with Michael Connelly, Michael Alaimo, and Kendall Sherwood serving as executive producers alongside Trish Hofmann. Additional executive producers include Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate from Fabel Entertainment, with co-executive producers Jasmine Russ, Jamie Boscardin Martin, Trey Batchelor, and Theresa Snider from Hieronymus Pictures.

John Carroll Lynch, Rebecca Field, Michael Mosley, Amy Hill, Victoria Moroles, Courtney Taylor, Hector Hugo, Noah Bean, and Michael Cassidy round out the cast of Ballard.

Ballard is based on Michael Connelly’s Renée Ballard series of novels, containing six books. A premiere date for the series is yet to be announced, but it is scheduled for release this summer.
