Prime Video has released the first trailer of Ariana DeBose-starrer House of Spoils and it is a potboiler of horrors arising from food in a fine-dining restaurant that she heads.
Written and directed by Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, the film is set to premiere on the OTT platform on October 3.
According to the plotline, House of Spoils follows an ambitious chef (Ariana DeBose) who opens her first restaurant—a farm-to-table affair on a remote estate—where she battles kitchen chaos, a dubious investor, crushing self doubts… and the powerful spirit of the estate’s previous owner who threatens to sabotage her at every turn.
The trailer also shows her descent into madness as the spirit disturbs her mind and body.
The makers describe the film as a "tense, psychological and sensuous thriller that will leave hearts pounding and mouth watering."
Apart from Ariana DeBose, House of Spoils also stars Arian Moayed, Barbie Ferreira, Amara Karan, Mikkel Bratt Silset, and Marton Csokas.
Ariana DeBose received widespread praise and won an Oscar for her performance in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story. She has also made a name for herself as a host, with a standout role as the compère of the Tony Awards. DeBose recently appeared in the family fantasy drama Wish, alongside Chris Pine and Evan Peters. Her other notable projects include Hamilton (2020), Argyle, Pine's debated film The Poolman, and many more.
