One of GV Prakash's latest outings, Kalvan, will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on May 14. The film, also starring Ivana, hit theatres on April 5 and opened to unfavourable reviews. 

Kalvan is written and directed by cinematographer PV Shankar, who made his directorial debut with the film. Backed by Axess Film Factory, the film's extended cast includes Dheena, Bharathiraja, G Gnanasambandam, Vinoth Munna, Jenson Dhivakar, Prasanna Balachandran and Nivedita.

The film has been mostly shot in and around the Sathyamangalam forest reserve. Director PV Shankar and Ramesh Aiyappan have jointly scripted Kalvan. Interestingly, the director has also handled the film's cinematography. Besides playing the lead, GV Prakash has also composed music for the film. Reva has composed the background score for Kalvan.
