FX released a 42-second teaser for the upcoming season 2 of The Old Man, announcing September 12 as its premiere date. The new season will have eight episodes and will stream internationally on Disney+.

The series is based on the 2017 novel The Old Man by Edgar Award-winning thriller novelist Thomas Perry. It follows Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges), a former CIA operative on the run, and Harold Harper (John Lithgow), an FBI assistant. The new season is expected to see the both of them set off to recover Emily Chase (Alia Shawkat) after she is kidnapped. 

Talking at the show's Television Critics Association panel, Bridges, who was diagnosed with lymphoma during the making of the first season, said, "I’m feeling great now... What is so bizarre to me is that I had a 9-by-12-inch tumour in my stomach that didn’t hurt at all [while shooting for season 1]."
