R Balki’s Ghoomer starring Saiyami Kher and Abhishek Bachchan in the leads will be streaming on OTT platform Zee5 from November 10. The social media handles of Zee5 announced this news saying, "The pitch is ready! Are you? Adding more action this cricket season with Ghoomer on Zee5."
The film tells the story of Anina (Saiyami), a batswoman and how she gets back into the sport after losing her right arm.
Karoly Takacs, the late Hungarian right-hand shooter is the inspiration behind Ghoomer. He won two Olympic Gold medals with his left hand, although he had a severely injured right hand. Besides Saiyami, Abhishek, and Angad, Shabana Azmi is also a part of the film's cast.
Vishal Sinha has handled the cinematography for Ghoomer with Amit Trivedi scoring the music. The film which hit theatres on August 18, received mixed to positive responses.
Our CE review of the film read, "Sports films and montages are in a situationship. Is there any sports drama that can let go of the montage? While I believe a training montage is imperative, in Ghoomer the emotional bits are skimmed over in too many pacy montages. Saiyami’s progression from a doe-eyed batswoman, to a desolate differently-abled person, to a fiery left-arm bowler feels jerky."
