Actor Jitendra Kumar who essays the character Gannu in Dry Day, shared how he tweaked the accent and language to add layers to his role, making it an unforgettable experience.

Jitendra is known for his work in Panchayat, Kota Factory, and Jaadugar. The recently unveiled trailer of the film 'Dry Day' provides a tantalizing glimpse into the transformation of Jitendra into Gannu, a small-town tough guy who embarks on a journey that challenges the very fabric of societal expectations.

Talking about the same, Jitendra said: "Gannu isn't just a character to me, I have grown up in an environment where I have seen people like Gannu. Whenever I go back, my siblings and friends ask me why I haven't explored characters like him before. It's a role where I felt a genuine connection, fully understanding the character and the world he inhabits."

"Being able to tweak the accent and language has added layers to the character, making it an unforgettable experience. I can't express how grateful I am to Saurabh Sir for envisioning me as Gannu and giving me the opportunity to bring him to life," he shared.

The 33-year-old further said: "This role has been more than just acting; it's a journey into authenticity and relatability. The credit also goes to Emmay for executing the story with such genuine emotion and realism. Big thank you to the audiences for showering their love on Gannu."

The trailer of Jitendra Kumar and Shriya Pilgaonkar starrer Dry Day was released by the makers on Thursday, December 14. Written and directed by Saurabh Shukla, the social satire also stars Annu Kapoor.

Dry Day is set in the fictional small town of Jagodhar, which is up for a corporator’s election. The place has only one liquor shop and it seems like alcoholism in men is irking their wives in the town. Jitendra’s Gannu is a small-time goon and one of the candidates for the election. Nirmala (Shriya) plays his love-interest. The trailer shows Nirmala being vexed with Gannu’s lax ways and she believes he isn’t responsible enough. In a drunken stupor, Gannu announces that alcohol in the town should be banned. This leads to a domino effect and women take to the streets, in support of him. Annu Kapoor plays Gannu’s uncle in the film.

“Amidst the emotional quest to earn the trust and love of his dear ones, Gannu not only confronts the external challenges but also struggles with his own insecurities and issue of alcoholism,” the film’s synopsis read.

The film is slated to release on Amazon Prime Video on December 22.
