As reported earlier, Andre Braugher passed away on Monday at the age of 61. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor was last working on Netflix's The Residence, a murder mystery series.
The production of the series, which was halted due to the WGA strike months ago, has lost one of its lead characters with Braugher's demise. Only 4 of the 8-episode series were completed before the shoot was paused. The first four episodes were helmed by Liza Johnson.
It is yet to be known whether the writers will write off Braugher's character or recast the role. A date for the resumption of filming is also yet to be announced. It is speculated that the cast members may be given a short while to mourn the actor's untimely demise.
The Residence is a whodunnit headlined by Uzo Aduba. It is set in and around the White House, with 132 rooms, one dead body and 157 suspects. One wildly eccentric detective played by Aduba takes it upon himself to solve the crime.
The previously announced cast members of The Residence are Susan Kelechi Watson, Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Isiah Whitlock Jr., EL Losada, Matt Oberg, Ryan Farell, and Alexandra Siegel, Mary Wiseman, Kylie Minogue, Jane Curtin, James Babson, Paul Fitzgerald and Ros Gentle.
The Residence is executive produced by Paul William Davies. Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers executive produce on behalf of Shondaland via the company’s Netflix overall deal.
