Prime Video's Butterfly to be helmed by Kitao Sakurai

Daniel Dae Kim and Reina Hardesty play lead roles in the series

Twisted Metal fame director Kitao Sakurai is on board Prime Video's series Butterfly as director. He will be helming the pilot and an additional episode of the series, which is adapted from Arash Amel and Marguerite Bennett's eponymous graphic novel.

A character-driven spy thriller, the six-episode series is set to explore complex family dynamics within the dangerous world of international espionage. 

Daniel Dae Kim plays David Jung, a former US intelligence officer known to be enigmatic and highly unpredictable. Jung, who lives in South Korea, has his life blown away when a decision he took in an impossible case in the past, comes as haunting consequences for him in the present. Rebecca (Reina Hardesty), a deadly, sociopathic young agent is assigned to kill him and is behind him.  

Ken Woodruff and Stephen Cha are set to executive produce the series along with Daniel Dae Kim and John Cheng for 3AD, Stephen Christy and Ross Richie for BOOM! Studios; and Arash Amel for The Amel Company as well as Sakurai.
