Antony Varghese's Poovan is gearing up for release on January 20. On Friday, the makers dropped the trailer, from which it looks like a quirky fun entertainer. Most of Antony's films have an animal as an integral part—pigs in Angamaly Diaries, a bull in Jallikattu, and an elephant in Ajagajantharam. In Poovan, it's a rooster! In the trailer, Antony is seen troubled by a rooster and trying desperate ways to get rid of it. In addition to that, there are also a host of interesting characters. With the film coming from the same team as Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal and Super Sharanya, most of the actors look familiar.

Poovan is directed by debutant Vineeth Vasudevan and scripted by Varun Dhara, who both played notable roles in Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal and Super Sharanya. As evident from the trailer, the two seem to essay prominent roles in Poovan as well. Sajin Cherukayil, Vineeth Vishwam, Girish AD, Maniyanpilla Raju, Rinku Ranadeer, Anishma Anilkumar, Akhila Bhargavan, Bindhu Sati, and Sunil Melepuram also star in it.

Poovan has Sajith Purushan as the cinematographer and Akash Joseph Varghese as the editor. Rorschach-fame Midhun Mukundan is handling the music department. The film is backed by Shebin Backer and Super Sharanya director Girish AD under the banners of Shebin Backer Productions and Stuck Cows, respectively.
