Actor Balu Varghese has been served a legal notice by a woman, demanding a written apology and a formal undertaking regarding alleged sexual misconduct during a private gathering, The News Minute reported.

According to TNM, the legal notice characterises the actor's alleged actions as a severe violation of personal security, privacy, dignity, and bodily autonomy. Rejecting any potential excuses, the notice explicitly states: “Unwelcome physical contact of the nature complained of cannot be justified by familiarity, friendship, participation in a game, the location of the gathering or any purported misunderstanding.”

The complainant has revealed that the recent incident has made her feel not only profoundly disturbed but also enraged.

In addition to the primary complainant, it has also been reported that three more women within the same circle of film personalities and linked through mutual acquaintances have come forward with similar accusations, claiming that Balu had previously misbehaved with them as well.

Balu Varghese started his career in cinema as a child artist with 2005’s Chanthupottu, starring Dileep, and gained widespread recognition following his role in the 2013’s Honey Bee, co-starring Asif Ali and Bhavana. He has since featured in more than 40 films, which include major box-office successes such as Jan.E.Man and Manjummel Boys.

Speaking of which, Manjummel Boys composer Sushin Shyam has shared on his Instagram Stories the initial report regarding the legal notice to Balu, sparking speculation about the woman being one of his associates. Balu is yet to respond to the allegations. On the other hand, the identities of the women who made the allegations against him remain unknown, on the conditions of anonymity. The latest incident adds another dark page to the prolonged history of sexual misconduct allegations in Malayalam cinema, most of which remain unsubstantiated at a court of law even today.
