Mollywood Times director Abhinav Sunder Nayak recently engaged himself in an interactive question and answer session with his fans and followers on social media. One of them asked the filmmaker why he used artificial intelligence in his film and about his general opinion on the use of AI in cinema. In response, Abhinav said that he is against the utilisation of AI in films and that he had to revert to it for his previous film "due to certain circumstances and time constraints." The filmmaker also promised that he would not use AI again for his next film.
While Abhinav did not mention the name of the film where he used AI, it is worth noting that he has only directed two films so far—Mukundan Unni Associates (2022) and this year's Mollywood Times—and only one of those released when AI became prevalent in filmmaking.
Elsewhere, Abhinav Sunder Nayak talked to followers about his creative vision and what type of film he wants to do next. One of them asked about the one aspect that the filmmaker will not compromise on ever, and he replied, saying, "My vision, and more importantly—what I want to say through my film."
Another user asked Abhinav whether he plans to make a film that is completely unlike his filmography so far. In response, he said, "I won't deliberate try to do a film that's different from my filmography. That would become pretentious." The filmmaker added, "I prefer being honest to myself and that's probably the reason why some people have connected to my work. I am noting without my creative integrity."
In another fan interaction session from April this year, the filmmaker confirmed that a second part to his critically acclaimed film Mukundan Unni Associates was on the cards.
