Actor Naslen has put to rest rumours suggesting that he has fallen out with his Premalu co-star Mamitha Baiju, affirming that the two remain friends despite not being in regular contact.

The actor addressed the speculation during a recent interview with Cue Studio, where he responded to popular Google searches related to him. One of the questions asked whether he and Mamitha were still friends. "Yes, definitely," Naslen replied. "Who is searching for all this? Do people think we had a fight and parted ways?"

He went on to explain that while they do not frequently meet or speak on the phone, they continue to keep track of each other's work and stay in touch occasionally. "I had messaged her after watching the trailer of Kara. We are not the kind of friends who meet or call each other regularly, but we do keep each other updated and share things. Right now, Mamitha is in Kochi shooting for a film with Sangeeth (Prathap). We are definitely friends," he said.

Naslen and Mamitha became one of Malayalam cinema's most popular on-screen pairings following the gigantic success of Premalu, which emerged as one of the biggest hits of 2024. Their chemistry in the romantic comedy earned widespread appreciation and also paved the way for a sequel announcement.

However, Naslen recently confirmed that Premalu 2 has been shelved. According to the actor, the project was dropped because the makers were unable to achieve the level of perfection they wanted with the script. "Premalu 2 has officially been cancelled. Dileesh (Pothan) ettan has already spoken about it. Due to certain technical reasons, it did not arrive at a perfect landing. It may happen in the future, but for now, the project has been dropped because the script did not reach the desired level of perfection," he said.

Meanwhile, Naslen is gearing up for the release of Mollywood Times, directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak of Mukundan Unni Associates fame. The film, also starring Sharaf U Dheen and Premalu-fame Sangeeth Prathap, is set to hit theatres on June 5.
