Earlier this Wednesday, the Enforcement Directorate conducted a raid at Pinarayi Vijayan's house, among other politicians' residences, as part of an investigation into the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) money laundering case, involving the opposition leader's daughter, T Veena. Soon after the raid, some prominent voices in the world of politics and entertainment have started to criticise the measure by the Congress Party. Take filmmaker Aashiq Abu, for instance.
Shortly after the raid, Pinarayi Vijayan shared a photograph of himself raising his fist. According to reports, the ED did not find anything incriminatory after its raid at the politician's house. Meanwhile, director Aashiq Abu took to social media, shared the former Chief Minister's post, and quoted a line, widely attributed to Che Guevara, "I know you are here to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man."
Aashiq has long been an admirer of the erstwhile CM, who is now the Leader of the Opposition in Kerala. Recently, he disclosed his desire to direct a film based on the leader's life. Soon after the CPI(M) announced him as the opposition leader, Aashiq welcomed the decision with a social media post. At the time, the filmmaker shared a picture of the leader and wrote, "Whenever the party and the public faced complex crises, the leader who has led battles of survival from the front will continue to remain there. Hearty congratulations and best wishes. A leader forged for storms."
Back then, Aashiq Abu also conveyed his best wishes to VD Satheesan for becoming the Chief Minister of Kerala.
On the film front, Aashiq's upcoming projects include Aja Sundari, the directorial debut of Manu Antony where the former serves as both a producer and cinematographer.
