This Thursday marks Mohanlal's birthday. And, as promised, the actor has went to a theatre to attend the first show of his latest film Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph, alongside producer Antony Perumbavoor. After celebrating his birthday with a cake cutting ceremony, the superstar has gone into the Kavitha theatre in Kochi for the first day first show of his film. In a video that is now out on social media, the actor can be seen waving to fans and well wishers as he takes the stairs to the screen in the upper floor.

Following the mixed response for Patriot, featuring Mohanlal in an extended cameo alongside Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban, among others, expectations are sky high for Drishyam 3. While director Jeethu has tried to play down the hype surrounding the film, the recently released teaser and trailer have only increased the expectations.

The third film in the Drishyam franchise brings back Mohanlal with his co-stars Meena, Esther Anil, Ansiba Hassan, Siddique, Murali Gopy, and Asha Sharath, among others. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas, and it is presented by Panorama Studios and Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios. The makers are yet to disclose plot specifics. However, the trailer hints at a storyline where Mohanlal's character, Georgekutty, expresses remorse for his past actions concerning the murder of Varun (Roshan).

Drishyam 3 marks the third big release of May. Earlier, Patriot and Athiradi hit theatres. Also set to release later this May is Kattalan, directed by Paul George and starring Anthony Varghese in the lead role. Soon afterwards, in June, director Abhinav Sunder Nayak's film Mollywood Times, starring Naslen, is scheduled to release in theatres as well.
