It has been 13 years since the release of Jeethu Joseph's whodunnit Drishyam, starring Mohanlal in the lead role. After all these years and multiple iterations of the critically acclaimed film, one of the factors that has remained constant is the cops' pursuit of Varun's (Roshan) killer. Earlier this Wednesday, actor Roshan looked back at the long journey of the franchise and expressed his gratitude to the audience for keeping his character alive, even though Varun dies in the first part.
Sharing photographs featuring him with his co-stars and crew members, Roshan wrote, "A bunch of memories from my Drishyam shoot days back in 2013. A movie that became legendary, a character that still gets remembered even after all these years, and now Drishyam 3 arrives tomorrow." The actor added, "My character was gone in the very first part, yet somehow stayed alive in people’s minds through the years , through the love, the trolls, and the endless memes. And honestly, I enjoy every bit of it."
Speaking of which, audiences and even social media influencers have made quirky videos and memes, making fun of Varun's fate. Some posts even suggest that Varun's ghost appears in Romancham because of the similarity in the colours of the bag that Mohanlal's character uses to collect Varun's remains and the bag that Arjun Ashokan's character brings in Jithu Madhavan's horror comedy.
He also wrote, "That character and I are two different people, but being recognised for one role for so long is truly a blessing. Forever grateful to the entire team for making me part of such an iconic film. All the very best to Team Drishyam 3. Can’t wait for tomorrow."
Coming back to the Drishyam third part, the film brings back Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Siddique, Asha Sharath, and Murali Gopy, among others.
