Audiences often appreciate Aju Varghese's frequent collaborations with actors such as Nivin Pauly. Some consider the Aju-Nivin combination as the next best duo in Malayalam cinema after Mohanlal and Sreenivasasn, especially in comedies. However, Aju is now looking forward to a different duo, one that has already made an impact among the contemporary audience: Naslen and Sangeeth Prathap.
The two actors are coming back together after Premalu for the upcoming film, Mollywood Times, directed by Mukundan Unni Associates fame Abhinav Sunder Nayak. Taking to his Instagram Stories space, Aju shared a Mollywood Times release date post featuring Naslen and Sangeeth's characters and wrote, "Waiting for this magical duo."
Naslen and Sangeeth complemented each other really well and took audiences on a laughter ride in Premalu, directed by Girish AD. While the duo also starred in Girish AD's sophomore directorial venture, Super Sharanya, it is Premalu that made them popular, more so among the Gen Z audience.
Mollywood Times stars Naslen as a filmmaking aspirant. The film has a screenplay by Ramu Sunil, the co-writer of Rekhachithram, starring Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan, among others. The upcoming film also stars Sharaf U Dheen in an important role.
On the technical front, it has cinematographer Viswajith Odukkathil and composer Jakes Bejoy. Abhinav also doubles up as the film's editor, working alongside Nidhin Raj Arol.
Produced by Ashiq Usman through his namesake banner, Mollywood Times is slated for a June 05 release in theatres. Beyond the film with Naslen, Sangeeth is shooting a film with his Premalu co-star Mamitha Baiju.
