Basil Joseph announced on Friday that Athiradi will have paid premieres on May 13 in select theatres worldwide, a day ahead of its theatrical release. Sharing the update through his social media handles, Basil revealed that the special shows will begin from 6:30 pm onwards across selected theatres.

Headlined by Tovino Thomas, Basil and Vineeth Sreenivasan, Athiradi is slated to hit theatres on May 14. The film recently completed its censor formalities and was awarded a U certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification, making it suitable for audiences of all age groups. The project marks Basil’s first production venture, backed in association with Dr Ananthu Entertainments. It is directed by Arun Anirudhan, making his directorial debut after previously co-writing Minnal Murali and Padayottam.

Billed as a campus-based action entertainer with a festive tone, Athiradi is jointly scripted by Arun and Kaathal - The Core co-writer Paulson Skaria. The ensemble cast also includes Riya Shibu, Zarin Shihab and Darshana Rajendran, among others. The technical crew comprises cinematographer Samuel Henry, editor Chaman Chakko and composer Vishnu Vijay. Along with Basil and Ananthu, the film is co-produced by Tovino and filmmaker-cinematographer Sameer Thahir.
