The makers of Mohiniyattam dropped the official trailer for the movie, directed by Krishnadas Murali and starring Saiju Kurup, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jagadish, and Vinay Forrt, among others. The trailer is full of references to Jeethu Josephs' Drishyam, starring Mohanlal in the lead role. The trailer begins with Saiju Kurup's character narrating his brother's prospective film's premise, which revolves around the accidental death of an uninvited guest, the same as that of Drishyam. The references do not appear mere hat tips to the critically acclaimed whodunnit, because there are also mentions of a family in trouble and the involvement of a cop (Vinay) in Mohiniyattam. Earlier, director Krishnadas teased a "more eventful film" as compared to its predecessor Bharathanatyam.

However, it is worth noting that the movie is a sequel to 2024's family comedy Bharathanatyam.

The 2024 film revolves around a conventional middle-class family, the carefully crafted image of which starts crumbling as hidden secrets come to the fore. Its sequel also stars Baby Jean, Kalaranjini, Sreeja Ravi, Swathi Das Prabhu, Nandu Pothuval, Abhiram, Sruthy Suresh, Divya M Nair, Jinil Rexa, Jivin Rexa, Nisthar Sait, Santhosh K Nayar, Balachandran Chullikkad, Sreerekha, Salim Hassan, Vijay Babu, and Jibin Gopinath, among others.

Also featuring Vishnu R Pradeep as a co-writer, Mohiniyattam is produced by Thomas Thiruvalla Films in association with Saiju Kurup Entertainments. On the technical front, it has music by Electronic Kili, cinematography by Bablu Aju, and editing by Shafeeque VB.

The second part to Mohiniyattam is slated for an April 10 release in theatres. Notably, Drishyam 2 is also set to have its theatrical debut and rerelease after the digital premiere on the same date.
