The makers of Derby have unveiled the film’s trailer, offering a glimpse into what appears to be a lively and entertaining campus drama. Directed by Sajil Mampad, the film is set to hit theatres on March 27. It stars Adam Sabiq, Ameen and Sagar Surya, three of whom were recently seen in the hit horror comedy Prakambanam.

The trailer of Derby opens on a rainy night, where a couple walks together under a shared umbrella. The girl remarks, “When we share an umbrella with someone, we should feel the rain a bit,” to which the boy nods in agreement. In a twist, the same boy is later seen repeating the exact line to another girl in a similar setting, hinting at his character’s flirtatious nature. The trailer then shows a series of lively, fun-filled glimpses set within a college campus. It teases a vibrant mix of male friendships and romance, suggesting that Derby will lean into the familiar beats of a colourful campus entertainer.

The ensemble cast of Derby also includes Hari Sivaram, Anu, Rish NK, Jasnya Jayadeesh, Merlet Ann Thomas, Franco Francis, Habeeb Rahman, Suparna S, Johnny Antony, Shabareesh Varma, Abu Salim, Sinoj Varghese, Fahiz Bin Rifai, Shafi Kollam, Pradeep Balan, Divya M Nair, Santhosh Keezhattoor and Nazeer Shikku. The film is jointly written by Zahru Zuhara and Ameer Suhail, with Sharfu of the Suhas-Sharfu duo serving as script consultant. It has cinematography by Abinandan Ramanujam, editing by R Jerin and music composed by Gopi Sundar.

Derby is produced by Manzour Abdul Razac under the banner of Demanz Film Factory.
