Aadu 3: One Last Ride - Part 1, starring Jayasurya and directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, has opened in theatres to mostly positive reviews from critics. If the early figures are anything to go by, the third instalment in the popular comedy franchise appears to be heading towards a box office success.
According to the industry tracker Sacnilk, Aadu 3: Part 1 has earned a gross collection of 12.28 crore so far over the first two days of its release. It is worth noting that the tracker offers approximate data in near real time, so the box office collection for Aadu 3 may go up a lot more by the end of this Friday.
The aforementioned numbers are sure to bring some hope to producers and distributors in Malayalam cinema, especially because some of the recent films did not do particularly well at the box office, despite their positive reviews.
The film unfolds in two timelines, with Shaji Pappan (Jayasurya) and his motley gang appearing in different forms. When certain secrets come to light and strong enemies surface in both periods, they are lured into situations where the stakes are higher than ever before.
In our Aadu 3 movie review, Vignesh Madhu wrote, "The film’s USP lies in how the different timelines intersect, with the non-linear storytelling adding to the intrigue. While the present-day portions are easy to follow, the 18th-century track takes time to settle. To their credit, the makers do not compromise on the film’s ambition, ensuring even the period portions are mounted with care, despite the film being a comedy at its core."
The film also stars Vinayakan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Saiju Kurup, Sunny Wayne, and Vijay Babu, among others. A second chapter in Aadu 3 is expected to release in the near future.
