The makers of Ottakomban, the long-delayed 250th film of actor-politician Suresh Gopi, have announced that noted Telugu composer Thaman S has been roped in as the film's music director. The development marks Thaman's debut in Malayalam cinema. The composer replaces Animal-fame Harshavardhan Rameshwar, who was previously attached to the project as its music director.

Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies, Ottakomban is directed by debutant Mathews Thomas and scripted by Shibin Francis. The film has been in development for several years and has faced multiple delays due to legal issues, the pandemic and scheduling challenges. After finally commencing production in December 2024, the project resumed filming in April 2025 following further postponements linked to Suresh Gopi's ministerial responsibilities.

The addition of Thaman is among the film's biggest updates so far. One of the most sought-after composers in South Indian cinema, Thaman has delivered music for several major Telugu and Tamil films over the last decade. His recent credits include Game Changer, Daaku Maharaaj and Ustaad Bhagat Singh, the latter being his most recently released album. Speaking about the collaboration, executive producer Krishnamoorthy said the team was proud to bring a composer of Thaman's stature to Malayalam cinema through Ottakomban.

Billed as a large-scale mass action entertainer, Ottakomban stars Suresh Gopi as Kadavakkunnel Kuruvachan, a character reportedly inspired by a real-life figure. Earlier released promotional material, including the film's first-look poster, presented the actor in a larger-than-life avatar and generated considerable attention among fans. The film also stars Abhinaya as the female lead. The supporting cast includes Lal, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vijayaraghavan, Lalu Alex, Kabir Duhan Singh, Johny Antony, Biju Pappan and Meghana Raj. According to the makers, more than 70 actors, including several newcomers, are part of the film.

Shot across multiple locations in Kerala as well as Hong Kong, Ottakomban is mounted on a substantial budget. The film is co-produced by VC Praveen and Baiju Gopalan, with Krishnamoorthy serving as executive producer.
