Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju star in director Girish AD's upcoming film, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit. Recently, the makers of the film dropped a first-look poster featuring Nivin and Mamitha's characters. The film reunites Girish AD with his Premalu star Mamitha Baiju, as well as the 2024 film's producers Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil, and Syam Pushkaran of Bhavana Studios.

In a recent interview with Vanitha magazine, Girish revealed an interesting detail about Bethlehem Kudumba Unit. What is interesting about the film is that it is a love story exploring the romantic relationship between a man and a woman with a significant age gap between them. "The romance between a couple with an age difference forms the core of the film," Girish revealed.

Girish also said that the film has entered the dubbing stage and that the makers eye an Onam 2026 release for it.

This premise marks a major departure for Girish, whose previous films explored romance involving teenagers and youngsters. For the unversed, Girish is known for films such as Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, Super Sharanya, Premalu, and I Am Kathalan. All of these films have lovers who are of the same age group.

The latest update from Girish about the film has increased curiosity about it. Conventionally, romance films in Indian cinema feature heroes who are significantly older than heroines, and their makers do not acknowledge this fact. Girish, meanwhile, has broken this convention with the latest reveal about Bethlehem Kudumba Unit. Some of the audience members have already expressed their appreciation to Girish for doing the same. Earlier, the makers of the Suriya starrer Tamil-Telugu film Vishwanath and Sons, including its director Venky Atluri, earned similar praise for doing the same.

For the uninitiated, Vishwanath and Sons also explores the aforementioned type of relationship, often known as 'May-December romance'. What is even more interesting is that both Bethlehem Kudumba Unit and Vishwanath and Sons star Mamitha Baiju in the female lead.
