Sreenath Bhasi-starrer Pongala will have its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 12. The film, which hit screens on December 5, is an actioner inspired by real incidents from the early 2000s in the Vypin-Munambam coastal region near Kochi. It marks Sreenath Bhasi’s first full-fledged action role.
Pongala is written and directed by AB Binil, who made his debut with the 2022 film Vamanan. It also stars Baburaj, Sampath Ram, Kichu Tellus, Sudheer Karamana, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sminu Sijo, Murugan Martin, Sohan Seenulal and child actor Sreerang Shine.
The film has cinematography by Jackson Johnson, editing by Ajas Pukkadan and music by Ranjin Raj. Deepu Bose and Anil Pillai produce the film under the banner of Global Pictures Entertainment, with Dona Thomas serving as co-producer.
Sreenath Bhasi was last seen in Karakkam, a horror comedy directed by Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian. The actor's upcoming slate includes Salam Bukhari's directorial debut Udumbanchola Cable Vision and Shan M's survival thriller G1.
