The Tovino Thomas-starrer Pallichattambi is set to make its digital premiere on Sony LIV on July 24, the streaming platform announced on Wednesday. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony and written by S Suresh Babu, the period action drama was released in theatres on April 15 and opened to mixed reviews.
Set in Kerala in 1958, Pallichattambi revolves around Krishna Pillai, a carefree rowdy who evolves into the feared Pallichattambi, a powerful church strongman caught in the midst of an escalating ideological conflict. Set in the hill village of Kaaniyar, the film explores the intersection of politics, faith and power as its protagonist is forced to confront choices that could alter the fate of an entire community.
Speaking about its digital premiere, Tovino said, "Pallichattambi is a story of transformation, courage, and standing up for what is right, set against one of the most fascinating chapters of Kerala's history. Portraying Pothan Christopher was an incredibly fulfilling experience, and I'm delighted that the film will now reach an even wider audience through Sony LIV. Over the years, several of my films have found immense love on the platform, and it's heartening to see the strong connection Sony LIV has built with Malayalam cinema lovers across the world. I hope audiences enjoy every moment of this action-packed, emotional, and deeply engaging journey."
The film also stars Kayadu Lohar, Vijayaraghavan, Shatru, Siddique, Baburaj, T G Ravi, Sudheer Karamana, Johny Antony and Prashanth Alexander in key roles, with Prithviraj making a special cameo appearance.
Produced by Noufal Ahammed, Brijeesh Mohammed and CCC Brothers under the banners of World Wide Films and C Qube Bros Entertainment, Pallichattambi has music by Jakes Bejoy, cinematography by Tijo Tomy and editing by Sreejith Sarang.
