Mammootty's new film with director Nithish Sahadev was launched with a pooja ceremony on Thursday in Kochi. The actor's home production house Mammootty Kampany is backing the film, which has cinematography by Jimshi Khalid.
Originally announced in February 2025, the film is co-written by Nithish and Anuraj OB, who earlier penned Antony Varghese's 2022 film Oh Meri Laila. In an earlier conversation with us, Nithish said that his film with Mammootty would be an action entertainer with the actor playing a local gangster. Additionally, he would be attempting the Malayalam spoken in the Marthandam-Nagercoil region. More details regarding the film are awaited.
Nithish, who debuted with the Basil Joseph-starrer Falimy, made his Tamil entry earlier this year with Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil. The political satire headlined by Jiiva emerged as a box office hit, signalling a much-needed comeback for the actor.
Meanwhile, Mammootty is working on Om: Chapter 1, his upcoming Tamil film with Dhanush, directed by Amaran-fame Rajkumar Periasamy. He has already finished shooting for Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Padayatra. We also hear that Mammootty would also headline and produce a new film directed by Shibin Murukesh, who previously worked as an associate of Premalu director Girish AD.
