Earlier this Saturday, the makers of the Kunchacko Boban-Lijomol Jose starrer Unmadham announced that the film will hit theatres worldwide on July 31, instead of the previously announced August 07 release. The psychological thriller is directed by first-timer Kiran Das from a script by Shahi Kabir. It reunites Kunchacko Boban and writer Shahi Kabir following their collaborations on Nayattu and Officer on Duty. It is worth noting that Nayattu and Officer on Duty also star Kunchacko Boban in police officer roles.

Unmadham marks the first time that Kunchacko and Lijomol Jose are sharing screen space. The film is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak under the Panorama Studios banner, and it is presented by Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series Films. Further, it has Ram Mirchandani and Rajesh Menon as co-producers and Abhinav Mehrotra as a creative producer.

Unmadham's story follows a constable (Kunchacko) who starts looking into an old case that has supernatural undertones, amidst his fragile family life. The deeper he gets into the case, the more mysterious it appears, blurring the lines between reality and delusion. The film also stars Siddique, Sudheesh, Vishakh Nair, Sabu Mon, Kottayam Nazeer, Gokulan, Arun Cherukavil, Unni Lalu, Shaju Sreedhar, Krishnaprabha, Kiran Peethambaran, Vishnu, Raina Radhakrishnan, Sijoy Varghese, and Vigneswar Suresh.

Debutant director Kiran Das is known for his editing work for films such as JosephIshqJojiAmbili, and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. Besides directing the upcoming Kunchacko Boban starrer, Kiran also doubles up as its editor. On the technical front, the film also has music director Mujeeb Majeed, cinematographer Arjun Sethu, and production designer Dileep Nath.

Production on the film has been wrapped. With the change in its release, the film joins some of the other major July releases in Malayalam, including Prithviraj Sukumaran's I, Nobody and Joju George's Varavu.
