On Sunday, it was announced that after 28 years, actor Mammootty was announced as one of the recipients of the Padma Bhushan award. Joining the film personalities in congratulating Mammootty was Karthi who took to social media to pen a note for the actor.

Taking to his X handle Karthi wrote, "Heartiest congratulations to the legendary Mammootty sir on being honoured with the Padma Bhushan. Sir, becoming a legend early never confined your choices. Instead, you continue to explore roles and creative realms beyond imagination, inspiring generations with your dedication and craft."

Singer Alka Yagnik and adman Piyush Pandey were some of the other recipients of the Padma Bhushan awards. The Padma Bhushan is awarded by the Indian government for distinguished service of the highest order. Mammootty has won the award in the Art category.

Earlier, speaking to Mathrubhumi News, the actor said, "There is no greater honour than being recognised by the nation."
