Mohanlal and Tharun Moorthy’s next collaboration has been officially and tentatively titled L 366. The director confirmed the latest update on social media on Saturday, posting an image of the script with the caption: “Yes, it’s officially #L366. Write. Rewrite. Write. Rewrite. Finally locked… to rewrite once again ❤️.” The upcoming film, produced by Ashiq Usman, is scheduled to begin shooting on January 23. The project reunites Mohanlal and Tharun following their massively successful collaboration, Thudarum, released in 2025.

The upcoming project was originally announced under the tentative title L365, with debutant Austin Dan Thomas attached as director and a screenplay by Ratheesh Ravi of Ishq fame. Following a change due to undisclosed reasons, Tharun took over helming responsibilities of the film in December 2025. The makers have since maintained that L366 is an entirely new film, even as Ratheesh continues as the writer. The film is reportedly set against the backdrop of a police investigation, with Mohanlal returning to play a police officer. Cinematography will be handled by Shaji Kumar, who also collaborated with Tharun on Thudarum, with editing by Vivek Harshan. Unconfirmed reports suggest Meera Jasmine will play the female lead, marking Meera’s reunion with Mohanlal following her cameo appearance in Sathyan Anthikad’s Hridayapoorvam.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal and Tharun are also planning another collaboration, to be backed by Thudarum producer M Renjith.
