Director Sudha Kongara recently revealed the upcoming projects she is planning to work on, following the release of her film Parasakthi. Speaking to Galatta Plus, Sudha said that Anjali Menon is writing a screenplay for her to direct and that it is a love story. The filmmaker said that she genuinely wishes to take on the project immediately and expressed her admiration for Anjali Menon, known for films such as Manjadikuru, Bangalore Days, and Koode, among others. She described Anjali's films as "gentler and quieter" and a whole lot different from her "frenetic" brand of cinema. "I just want to go and see if I am able to do something there," she said. If the project materialises, it could be Anjali's second screenplay to be directed by another filmmaker; earlier, she penned the script for director Anwar Rasheed's Ustad Hotel.
Sudha Kongara also revealed that Trance fame Vincent Vadakkan has "a beautiful and powerful coming-of-age-story" featuring a male protagonist in store for her. However, she did not reveal anything else about the projects. She said that she has some really big projects in consideration as well. "I do not know where I will go; something will call," the Parasakthi director said.
The filmmaker also said that she is working on the film adaptation of Naran's novel Vettai Naaigal, whose rights she bought a couple of years ago. Announcing the news at the time, she said, "Having bought the rights to this marvellous story, I’m now Very very excited and eager to start on the screenplay of the novel…a journey that’s usually excruciating but exhilarating too. I get to live a life through this film that I haven’t experienced before - a Film maker’s greatest reward!"
