Director Akhil Sathyan's horror-comedy film Sarvam Maya released on JioHotstar the other day after its successful theatrical run, and it has been getting plenty of appreciation from the digital space as well. The latest to appreciate the film, also starring Riya Shibu and Aju Varghese, among others, is actor-politician Radikaa Sarathkumar.
Taking to X, Radikaa said that the film made her and her actor-politician husband Sarathkumar laugh, smile and get teary eyed. Describing it as a "heartwarming film," she praised Nivin and Riya Shibu's performances. "Nivin Pauly, you moulded so well into your role," she wrote before saying that Riya's performance is "a strength to the film". She also gave a shout out to director Akhil Sathyan, saying "more power to your writing."
Sarvam Maya tells the story of an aspiring musician who takes to his family business of being a priest to make ends meet after his job as a guitarist in a music troupe faces a temporary crisis. However, things do not go according to plan for the youngster following an exorcism ritual. While Nivin made a mini comeback with a cameo in Vineeth Sreenivasan's multistarrer Varshangalkku Shesham, it took Sarvam Maya to break his box-office jinx after a long time. Despite turning in good performances in critically appreciated films such as Padavettu, Moothon, Mahaveeryar, and Thuramukham, a box-office hit proved elusive for Nivin for a long time until the Akhil Sathyan directorial came along.
The film earned mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences and turned out to be Nivin Pauly's first solo hit in years. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, it grossed 149 crore at the worldwide box office and is described as a blockbuster.
