The teaser of Jayasurya’s upcoming military action thriller Operation Tral, helmed by composer-writer Ratheesh Vega in his directorial debut, has been unveiled. The 73-second glimpse sets up a high-stakes operation involving the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Army, while keeping the film’s larger plot under wraps. It is scheduled to hit screens worldwide in December.

Jayasurya plays an NIA officer who appears determined to track down a wanted terrorist, with the teaser establishing his character as someone willing to take the investigation into enemy territory. In one of its key exchanges, an Army officer points out the restrictions governing military personnel when it comes to crossing the Line of Control. Jayasurya’s character, however, argues that the NIA does not face the same limitations and proposes infiltrating the territory to capture their target. While it offers little away about the narrative, the footage suggests that the film will blend an investigation with an intense counter-terror operation.

According to the makers, Operation Tral is inspired by a major counter-terror operation that followed a devastating convoy attack in Kashmir. Rithika Singh, Vinay Rai, Murali Sharma, Vikram Kochhar, Kavya Shetty, Siddique, Saikumar, Anson Paul, Manju Pillai, Yash Gera, Hansika Bharat Jangid and Akshay Radhakrishnan form the supporting cast. Najose is the cinematographer, while Shafeeque VB handles the editing and Sajeesh Thamarassery is the production designer. Ratheesh himself has composed the music for the film.

Ratheesh is primarily known for his work as a music director on films such as Cocktail, Beautiful and Run Baby Run. He has also scripted the Jayasurya-starrer Thrissur Pooram.

Meanwhile, Jayasurya is currently shooting for Kalamkaval filmmaker Jithin K Jose’s sophomore outing, Mayan - Chapter 1. He will next be seen in Titans, co-starring Vinayakan in the lead. The Vellam actor is also awaiting the release of his much-anticipated supernatural thriller Kathanar - The Wild Sorcerer.
