The makers of the Sandeep Pradeep-starrer Cosmic Samson have dropped the film’s first teaser, titled 'Curtain Raiser', offering a quirky first glimpse into the world of the upcoming superhero film.

The 1-minute 24-second teaser opens with a lone figure, presumably Sandeep's Samson, sitting on a rooftop overlooking a sprawling city at night, with a full moon shining overhead. The classic song ‘Ekaantha Chandrike’ from In Harihar Nagar plays in the background, before a phone call interrupts the music.

“Hi Appa,” he answers. Veteran actor Mukesh is heard as his father on the other end of the call, immediately asking where he is and why he has not come home despite it being past 11. Samson casually replies that he is “just chilling to some music”. His father, clearly unimpressed, tells him to stop chilling and come home, prompting Samson to say that he will be right there.

What follows is Samson simply jumping off the rooftop from his seated position. As the shot holds on the rooftop and night sky, a loud thud is heard, suggesting that he has landed on something below. The next shot shows him from behind, standing in front of a badly damaged car. “Bloody hell, I’m screwed. Ah, whatever!” he says, bringing the teaser to an end.

Helmed by John Luther director Abhijith Joseph, Cosmic Samson is jointly scripted by the filmmaker along with Abhikersh Vasanth. The film also stars Miya George, Anuraj OB, Alphonse Puthren and Althaf Salim, alongside several new faces. It is billed as a superhero origin story, placing it in the same space as Minnal Murali and Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.

Cosmic Samson has music by Sibi Mathew Alex, cinematography by Deepak D Menon and editing by Chaman Chakko. Hollywood stunt director Vlad Rimburg, who previously worked on Minnal Murali, has choreographed the action sequences. Produced by Sophia Paul under the Weekend Blockbusters banner and Manuel Cruz Darwin of D Group, the film is slated to hit theatres in October. It is expected to release with Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi dubs.

Sandeep was last seen in Dinjith Ayyathan's highly acclaimed and commercially successful mystery drama Eko. The actor is also noted for his performances in Falimy, Alappuzha Gymkhana and Padakkalam.
