Recently, we reported about Jude Anthany Joseph considering a film with Ayushmann Khurrana in Hindi before starting work on Thudakkam, his latest release starring Vismaya Mohanlal. In a recent interview, Jude shed more light on the planned project.

Speaking to Club FM 94.3, the filmmaker revealed that Ayushmann liked his story for the film. "I had a character for Mohanlal sir in it. I had written the full script for it," the filmmaker shared before adding that discussions involving those associated with the project in the Hindi belt went on for six-seven months.

"I told them, 'You discuss it as much as you want, but you should commit to the film first and Lal sir should be a part of it. Then, they sent me an email, where they said that they would get into 'secondary casting' only if the script is written in a way preferable to their team," Jude disclosed.

The filmmaker added that he then called the Hindi team and clarified whether 'secondary casting' referred to Mohanlal, only to receive an answer in the affirmative.

"Then, I emailed them, saying, 'Since you called one of the top actors in Indian cinema 'secondary casting,' I do not want to do a film with you.'" While the Hindi team wanted to commit to the project soon, Jude declined the project as he found the communication disrespectful towards Mohanlal. "I told them, 'No, we will not gel well now.' What followed was plenty of back-and-forth in email between my lawyer and their attorney. Finally, the agreement was cancelled, I returned the advance amount to them and had an NDA signed with them."

Jude also suggested that the film might still happen, as discussions are still taking place related to it.
