Abhinav Sunder Nayak is awaiting the release of his sophomore directorial venture, Mollywood Times, starring Naslen in the lead role. After multiple postponements, the Naslen starrer is finally scheduled for a June 05 release in theatres. Abhinav made his directorial debut with the 2022 dark comedy Mukundan Unni Associates, starring Vineeth Sreenivasan in the titular role of an advocate.

Mukundan Unni Associates earned plenty of rave reviews for Abhinav's treatment of the material and Vineeth's performance in the titular. Some critics regard it as one of the three best Malayalam films of the last two decades.

Soon after the release of the film, a sequence to the Vineeth Sreenivasan starrer was announced. In a recent interaction with fans and followers on social media, Abhinav Sunder Nayak confirmed that the plan for a Mukundan Unni Associates sequel is still on track.

A fan asked whether the second part is still on the cards, and Abhinav replied in the affirmative through his Instagram Stories. The filmmaker also tackled queries concerning his upcoming film, starring Naslen. He said that it would be a character-driven film, such as his directorial debut, and clarified that it will not be a dark comedy. He also revealed that Mollywood Times is a film that stands on its own, with no connection to his directorial debut. The filmmaker dismissed the speculation about whether there will be a popular character making a brief appearance alongside Naslen in the upcoming film as well.

He attributed the delay in its release and the postponement to the fact that post-production work on it is still going on. While it has been postponed, the confirmation about the sequel to the 2022 dark comedy is sure to excite fans and film buffs across the country.
