Director Savin SA's Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros continues its remarkable box office run. Soon after becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2026, Vaazha 2 has raked in around 30 crore more at the global box office, reported the business tracker Sacnilk. This takes its global box office collection to around 148 crore, according to the tracker. As of the 11th day of its release, the film has grossed 90.31 crore from theatres in India.

Written by Vipin Das, Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros stars Hashir, Alan, Vinayak, Ajin, Biju Kuttan, Alphonse Puthren, Vijay Babu, Aju Varghese Ameen, and Angel Maria, among others. The success of the film is further indication that the audience in Malayalam cinema appreciates films based on content and quality rather than the presence of stars. The likes of Hashir became popular through social media reels and shorts, something which Vaazha 2 has capitalised. Notably, following the release of the film, Hashir has been having more followers on Instagram as compared to Naslen.

Before the film, Midhun Manuel Thomas’s Aadu 3: One Last Ride – Part 1, starring Jayasurya, held distinction of being the highest-grossing film in Malayalam cinema. According to data from the aforementioned box office tracker, Aadu 3 minted around 119 crore (gross) at the worldwide box office.

Together, the second instalment in the Vaazha franchise and the third chapter in the Aadu film series have taken Malayalam cinema out of its recent box office lull. Until the release of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, the industry was facing such a dull period in terms of commerce that even contributed to some discourse around the profit sharing model between producers and exhibitors in the state.
