Actor Prakash Raj is known for his criticism of the BJP and its ideologies and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His criticism has spilled over to films that promote the party and its leadership. For example, he recently took a dig at other film personalities such as Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR and Allu Arjun for promoting Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which allegedly panders to the BJP and Modi.
Much like Prakash Raj, many prominent personalities from politics who oppose the BJP, including Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, also question how films such as Dhurandhar: The Revenge allegedly whitewashes the party's policies, such as demonetisation. The Kerala Chief Minister has been a vocal critic of films such as The Kerala Story, which is often mentioned in the same breath as The Kashmir Files for their alleged propaganda.
Meanwhile, Narendra Modi has continued his support of such films and their political perspectives. In a recent rally in Kerala, ahead of the state assembly elections, the PM criticised the LDF and Congress for calling the aforementioned films 'lies'. He also said that the opposition parties spread similar lies about the Uniform Civil Code, the FCRA Bill, and The Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
Mocking the PM for his latest statement, Prakash Raj wrote, "From selling chai to selling films .. Can you see the Desperation phrends .."
This is not the first time the PM has backed films such as The Kerala Story. In a 2023 rally in Karnataka, for example, he commended director Sudipto Sen's film and claimed that the movie laid bare the truth about terrorism and its related conspiracies in the state of Kerala.
