The Kerala State Government is set to felicitate Mohanlal, who recently won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The function is scheduled to take place at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram at 5:00 pm on October 04, Saturday. At the function, Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is set to honour Mohanlal, followed by a presentation of some of the most memorable moments from the actor's career. Ministers, actors, prominent personalities from arts and culture, and other dignitaries are set to attend the event.
Mohanlal became only the second Malayali to earn the prestigious award named after Dadasaheb Phalke, the first one being filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan. A memo from Saji Cherian, Minister for Fisheries, Culture and Youth Affairs of Kerala, says that it is a proud moment for each Malayali.
As he collected the award at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi last week, the actor said, "To be honest, I never dared to dream of this moment, not even in my wildest dreams. And so, this is not a dream come true. This is something far greater. It is magical. It is sacred. It roots me more deeply in gratitude and responsibility." He has also dedicated the award to Malayalam cinema as well as the audience for playing a vital part in his cinematic journey.
