Antony Varghese's Kattalan goes on floors

The makers of Kattalan, the upcoming action thriller starring Antony Varghese in the lead, announced on Tuesday that the film has begun shooting in Thailand. The project, mounted on a budget of Rs 50 crores, is being presented as a large-scale entertainer aimed at audiences across India. It is set for a multilingual release in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.

Written and directed by debutant Paul George, Kattalan centres on the theme of ivory smuggling. Antony, appearing under his real name Antony Varghese, leads the cast alongside Rajisha Vijayan, Marco-fame Kabir Singh Duhan, Jagadish, Telugu actors Sunil and Raj Tirandasu, rapper Baby Jean, Lokah actor Shibin S Raghav, and singer Hanan Shaah, who makes his acting debut. The dialogues are by acclaimed novelist and screenwriter Unni R. The film is produced by Shareef Muhammed under the Cubes Entertainments banner, who previously backed the Unni Mukundan-starrer Marco.

The technical crew of Kattalan includes cinematographer Renadive, editor Shameer Muhammed, and Kantara composer B Ajaneesh Loknath. Action sequences are being choreographed by Kecha Khamphakdee, whose credits span Ong-Bak 2, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Jawan.

Meanwhile, Antony is also part of Dulquer Salmaan's upcoming Malayalam film I'm Game, which reunites the actor with RDX director Nahas Hidhayath.
