Senna Hegde’s upcoming film Avihitham, carrying the tagline “Not just a man’s right”, will hit theatres in October. The makers announced the update on Thursday, alongside the launch of its trailer, though an exact date has not yet been specified.

The trailer suggests a quirky comedy set in a village in Kasaragod with the director’s trademark “Made in Kanhangad” branding, revolving around a group of locals attempting to expose an illicit relationship outside marriage. Much like Senna’s National Award-winning Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam, which was also rooted in Kasaragod, Avihitham draws on a largely fresh cast.

The screenplay is jointly penned by Senna and Ambareesh Kalathera, from a story written by the latter. The film features Unniraj, Renji Kankol, Vineeth Chakyar, Dhanesh Koliyat, Rakesh Ushar, Vrinda Menon, Ajith Punnad, Unnikrishnan Parappa, Aneesh Chemmarathi, T Gopinathan, Vijisha Nileshwaram, Ammini Chandralayam, Parvana Raj, Beena Kodakkad, Vismaya Sasikumar, Premalatha, Shyamili Das, Vipin K, Swapna Pallam, Mukesh OMR, Sayanth, Karthika Vijayakumar, Prabhakaran Velaswaram, Shubha C P and Lakshmanan Manniath.

Cinematography is by Ramesh Mathews, along with Sreeraj Raveendran, who also serves as creative director. Sanath Sivaraj is the editor, with music by Sreerag Sasi. It is produced by Mukesh R Mehta, Harris Desom, P B Anish, C V Sarathi and Senna under the banners of E4 Experiments, Imagin Cinemas and Marley State of Mind.

Senna made his directorial debut with the docu-drama 0-41 in 2016, before directing the Kannada romantic comedy Katheyondu Shuruvagide. He rose to prominence with the 2020 film Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam, followed by 1744 White Alto and Padmini.
