Indian Cricket Team’s wicket keeper, batter Sanju Samson recently talked about his adaptability according to his team’s demands by comparing it to Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Mohanlal’s versatility. Addressing cricket expert Sanjay Manjarekar’s question about his preferred batting position, Sanju went out of topic and said, “Recently, our Lalettan, Mohanlal, you know the cinema actor from Kerala? He got a very big award from the country. He is an actor, he has been acting for the last 40 years or so for Kerala movies.”
Wondering where the conversation is heading, Sanay asked Sanju to come to the point. “I have also been playing for my country for the last 10 years. So I cannot say that I can only do a hero role. I need to be a villain. I need to be a joker. I need to actually play around. Why can't I be a good villain also?” At the end of their conversation, Sanjay mistakenly addressed Sanju as Mohanlal, making the cricketer clarify his name humorously. The cricketer said that he is “Sanju Mohanlal Samson,” with a big smile on his face.
This is not the first time Sanju mentioned Mohanlal in an interaction. A few years ago, he gifted the legendary actor a Rajasthan Royals jersey, and the latter thanked him for it and wished him luck on his new role as the captain of RR. Sanju’s latest comment echoes many of Mohanlal's responses to questions concerning why he no longer signs up for outright villain roles. The actor has recently played some grey-shaded roles that make use of his stardom, such as Khureshi-Ab'raam/Stephen Nedumpally in the Lucifer franchise. However, he has done many out and out antagonists at the start of his career.
