The makers of Blu's, a short film presented by Nivin Pauly and created by Redgod Studios, released a trailer for the film the other day. The trailer for the silent film, directed by Rajesh PK, shows a small child running through a field to the edge of a cliff. "Every leaf tells a story," reads the tagline for the film, which boasts music by Sushin Shyam. According to the official description, the film tells "a story that whispers something profound about our connection to the Earth," which Nivin says is "a cause that is close to" his heart. The makers also say that the film "speaks volumes about innocence, loss, and our duty to protect what we have."
An official press release says that the film is inspired by director Rajesh's childhood memories, especially his connection with a tree around a temple in his hometown, Payyannur. The press release also reveals that Rajesh's fear of deforestation prompted him to come back from Bengaluru to Kerala and tell an important story.
Blu's has earned many awards and recognition in its festival run across the globe, including Best Animated Short Film at this year's Indie Short Fest in Los Angeles. It also finished as the second runner-up at the 2025 Bengaluru International Short Film Festival (BISFF), an award it shared with Sulaimani.
Rajesh has worked as part of the team of films such as Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, The Croods, Trolls, and Venom. On the technical front, Blu's has sound design by Shijin Melvin Hutton of Manjummel Boys fame and animation direction by Jeeth Parambandavida.
Nivin Pauly has multiple projects at various stages of production, including Dear Students with Nayanthara, a film with director B Unnikrishnan, Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai with Ram, and Baby Girl with filmmaker Arun Varma as well as writers Bobby and Sanjay.
